Job Title: Intermediate Graphic Designer with Motion Skills
Status: Full-time permanent
Location: Toronto Studio


You will contribute your passion and talent by being a key member of one of BMD’s design teams. You will provide innovative and creative solutions, craft compelling narratives and strengthen design concepts through graphic animation and video editing.


  • Be a key creative contributor to a design team, shaping project development in line with studio principles and methods
  • Animate and edit; mentor and lead other designers in animation and editing
  • Design and produce creative solutions across all phases of the process
  • Conduct multifaceted research and design work
  • Establish conceptual frameworks to solve complex initiatives
  • Create sketches, mock-ups, prototypes, finished designs, and presentations
  • Iterate quickly and collaboratively on ideas
  • Lead small-scale projects from conception to execution with senior mentorship
  • Provide research, analysis, and synthesis
  • Build strong client relationships through direct and sustained contact over the course of projects
  • Contribute to business development by conducting research and developing presentation materials
  • Manage time and hours with respect to project budgets and responsibilities across multiple projects
  • Participate fully in internal meetings and creative sessions
  • Participate in presentations to client groups and the whole studio
  • Further develop and teach the BMD process to peers


  • A design degree (architecture, fine art, communications, graphic design, motion design, industrial design, or a related field)
  • The creative design capacity, expressed through respective education and work practice, to iterate and execute across a multitude of design projects and mediums
  • Proven experience and specialized skills in motion graphics and video editing
  • Proven experience in branding and visual identity systems
  • A proven combination of design capabilities and technological expertise
  • The ability to collaborate and work through projects within a team
  • Proficiency in InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Adobe Premier Pro
  • Familiarity with 3D software; ie. Cinema 4D
  • A demonstrated personality as a team player, with a collaborative nature and an aptitude and willingness for mentorship
  • The capacity to drive to beautiful and efficient solutions
  • The ability to structure and articulate an argument, and to craft narratives (written, verbally, and visually)
  • A pulse on a broad range of local and global issues and a cultural awareness
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to work under leadership, as well as to lead smaller projects and initiatives
  • Proven organization and production capabilities
  • Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • The ability and willingness to contribute ideas that challenge assumptions and push concepts further
