Bruce Mau Design is looking for a (junior) Design Strategist to join our team full-time. Reporting to the Director of Strategy, you will help drive and develop strategic design insights and branding concepts for a diverse range of design projects. Your contributions will align our clients’ goals and needs by building compelling strategies, solutions, insights and knowledge.

In this role, you will:

• Support in developing the upfront strategic thinking in design projects, from brand and visual identities to digital experiences to physical environments
• Conduct design research, such as stakeholder interviews, competitive landscape reviews, brand and communications audits
• Analyze and synthesize research to arrive at creative insights and strategic design implications
• Prepare strategic design deliverables, including research reports, brand positioning scenarios, brand platforms, concept development and messaging
• Create materials to support in the delivery of client workshops
• Aid in the development of project case studies, including writing and design
• Engage in new business efforts including research, initial thinking, and presentation design
• Problem solve and write
• Present ideas (written, verbally, and visually) to peers and seniors
• Own and deliver on specific elements of projects
• Build a knowledge base of current trends and the relevant landscape
• Learn and apply the BMD Process
• Manage time and understand operational practices
• Build experience interacting with clients with support from seniors

What you bring:

• 1-3 years’ experience in branding or related field (e.g., marketing, brand communications, design research)
• A high level of writing proficiency, including strong narrative skills
• Excellent research and analytical skills
• The ability to synthesize findings, spot opportunities and craft insights
• An understanding of branding deliverables, such as brand positioning and platform, brand architecture, messaging, and visual identity
• The versatility to work independently and as a team member in a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to manage time effectively to meet deadlines across multiple projects simultaneously
• A pulse on a broad range of local and global issues and a cultural awareness Interest and awareness of current trends in design research, branding, environmental design and technology
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Keynote, working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus

Our studio is located downtown Toronto in the Design District. We currently work 2x a week in studio to foster collaboration and mentorship. In addition to 3-weeks’ vacation, we enjoy summer hours, a holiday shutdown, a full and comprehensive health package at no cost to the employee, and participation in our group RRSP with annual employer matching.
