BMD Mixtape: Vol. 7 Valentine's Edition

BMD Designer, Ana Lapa, designed a special Valentine's Day mixtape.
For this month’s Spotify playlist, graphic designer Ana Lapa and her partner João Fernandes have collaborated on the design of BMD’s Valentine’s playlist cover.
The artwork is a visual representation of what love sounds like through the lens of time, from 1970 to 2019. The data is filtered from the most listened-to love songs on Billboard Hot 100 during the week of February 14th.
The data analyzes if the songs are either positive or negative each year, with the slices painted in darker tones. The graphic also illustrates which words were mostly used in the expression of love, and if the words were either romantic (filled with warmer colors, such as red, yellow and orange) or breakup related (with cold colors, such as blue, violet and green).
The data is encapsulated in a compact disk layout, hopefully bringing us nostalgia for the times we would create mixtapes to share with our loved ones.
