Massive Change

Design Everything

Design has prevailed as one of the world’s most powerful forces.

It perches us at the beginning of an unprecedented period of human possibility, where all economies and ecologies hold the capacity to merge as global, relational and interconnected.

In order to fruitfully grasp these emerging forces, there lives an urgent need to articulate precisely, absolutely, entirely what we’re doing to ourselves and our planet.

This is the ambition of Massive Change.

An exploration and map of design’s power, promise and potential, the Massive Change exhibition, commissioned by the Vancouver Art Gallery, also showed in Toronto and Chicago.

At each venue, a unique series of public events arises: lectures, symposia and workshops, including “Massive Change Visionaries,” tapping into the ideas of today’s leading thinkers and innovators.

“Massive Change” the book, published internationally by Phaidon Press, explores the thoroughgoing possibilities of design across the planet, while casting a cautious look at our inherent limitations.

Originally broadcast on CIUT 89.5 FM in Toronto during 2003, Massive Change Radio is archived on the comprehensive website www.massivechange.com. Each hour-long show offers interviews with provocative thinkers and doers across disciplines.

BMD continues to embrace the lessons of Massive Change in everything they do: at the studio, in the world and for clients from MTV to Arizona State University to Shaw Industries.

Change is massive.

Design everything.
