In 2014, Umea, Sweden, welcomed arts, culture and all genres of music during its tenure as a European Capital of Culture. At the centre of the northern town was Väven—a gathering place at the edge of the Ume river and the backyard of the city centre.

For the year-long festival Väven represented a cultural hub, meeting place and performance space. The space connected commercial and cultural organizations in an environment that generated new forms of collaboration and production.

Bruce Mau Design developed the brand positioning, visual identity, communications materials, wayfinding and signage. In addition, we designed a new website which launched in the spring.
