In 2009, Bruce Mau Design partnered with Host Kilmer Service Centres to develop an identity and signage system for 23 new rest stops in Ontario. Wanting to make rest stops more appealing, the BMD-Host Kilmer team facilitated a plan which included rebuilding the facilities, introducing new vendors and programs, and serving the traveller en route through satisfying, innovative, enriching experiences.

The ONroute brand serves as a wayfinding device for travellers on Ontario’s highways, and acts as a mode for learning about the province's landscape, industry, ecology and history. Signage elements reference the highways and site-specific architecture of the service centres, and embrace universality and clarity to create an easy and intuitive experience for Ontario's travellers.
