Bruce Mau Design to have presence at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this August

Bruce Mau Design is excited to announce their participation in The Green Constitutional Congress: A Symposium of the Future of Environmental Action to be held on the first day of the Democratic National Convention, Monday August 25, 2008 at the Buell Theater in Denver. Bruce Mau will be moderating the symposium of sustainability experts and advocates and will be guiding the conversation with In Good We Trust, a recently launched multi-year project of Mau’s and BMD’s that will examine the conflict between the fundamentally positive and generous spirit inherent in the American character and the controversial perception the world has of America today. Mau and BMD collaborated with event curator and director, Seth Goldenberg, to orchestrate the innovative construction of the symposium which allows for democratic and active engagement of audience members by providing the opportunity to converse directly with speakers following the general discussion with the creation of side soapbox sessions called “conversational chaos.”

The Green Constitutional Congress: A Symposium of the Future of Environmental Action will bring together the most influential grassroots organizations and policy players of the sustainability movement. The Green Constitutional Congress is one part of Dialog:City, a multiple exhibit examination of democracy, art, and technology that is sponsored by the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs that is being held concurrently as the Democratic National Convention. Bruce Mau, the preeminent expert on the use of design thinking to address global challenges, will introduce and moderate this event. Key speakers include Majora Carter (Sustainable South Bronx), Former Senator Gary Hart (Presidential Climate Action Project), William S. Becker (Presidential Climate Action Project), Van Jones (Green for All), and Charlie Cannon (RISD).

The nation is now engaged in a heated dialogue on sustainability issues such as the energy crisis and oil prices, and the individuals driving that debate are convening for The Green Constitutional Congress, a dynamic symposium whose primary goal is to expand upon the public’s understanding of what constitutes sustainability, and why it is of a vital importance in today’s political landscape. The Green Constitutional Congress is a working session for these leaders that aims to facilitate collaboration on a larger scale agenda and to call for the next president to take serious and expansive policy action.

The Green Constitutional Congress is sponsored by the Denver Office of Cultural Affairs and the University of Colorado, Denver. It was initiated by Charlie Cannon and the Rhode Island School of Design’s contribution to Dialog:City, Partly Sunny: Designs to Change the Forecast.

The Green Constitutional Congress is open to the public and press.
