Intermediate Spatial Designer (Freelance or Contract)

Job Title: Intermediate Spatial Designer 
Job Status: (Freelance or Contract)
Experience: 3-5 years
Location: Toronto Studio

You will use your passion and talent to plan, strategize, design, and produce across spatial and brand environments projects.   


  • Be a key creative contributor to a design team, shaping project development in line with studio principles and methods
  • Conduct multifaceted research and design work
  • Lead small-scale projects from conception to execution with senior mentorship
  • Design and produce creative solutions across all phases of the process
  • Develop an understanding of, and aid in, the planning/resourcing of projects
  • Manage time and hours with respect to project budgets and responsibilities across multiple projects
  • Establish conceptual frameworks to solve complex initiatives
  • Lead on research, analysis, and synthesis
  • Create sketches, mock-ups, prototypes, finished designs, and presentations
  • Facilitate internal meetings and creative sessions
  • Mentor junior designers on project work and studio principles


  • A design degree (architecture, environmental design, industrial design, or a related field)
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite
  • Technical/architectural drawing experience
  • Experience in signage design and wayfinding systems
  • The creative design capacity, expressed through respective education and work practice,
    to iterate and execute across a multitude of design projects
  • A demonstrated personality as a team player, with a collaborative nature and an aptitude and willingness for mentorship
  • The capacity to drive beautiful and efficient solutions
  • A pulse on a broad range of local and global issues and a cultural awareness
  • The ability to structure and articulate an argument, and to craft narratives (written, verbally, and visually)
  • Superior communication and presentation skills
  • The ability to work under leadership, as well as to lead smaller projects and initiatives
  • Proven organization and production capabilities
  • Strong problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • The ability and willingness to contribute ideas that challenge assumptions and push concepts further
