Job Title: Human Resources Maternity Leave  
Job Status: Flexible to be a FT or PT Contract (based on level and experience) – May 2017 to July 2018

Role:                     

HR at BMD is our people and culture champion.  For this maternity leave contract we are most importantly looking for the right person to seamlessly transition and continue providing amazing support to our business and employees – as such, we are open to how this role will be crafted for the perfect fit.  You could be at a Generalist level and want to work PT, or you may be at a Coordinator level looking for a FT opportunity.  The responsibilities below are an overarching snapshot of HR at BMD, however; with the support of a fantastic network and parent company behind you, you may not be required to do it all, depending on your skills and experience and what you bring to the table.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicate, manage and execute company policies and procedures in accordance with legal requirements
  • Create and distribute HR communications
  • Provide strategy and guidance between managers and employees
  • Collaborate with the CEO on annual talent strategy, forecasting and management on a continuous and on-going basis
  • Full-cycle recruitment for all levels of the organization
  • Track, report and manage employee data (vacation, leaves, tenure, etc.)
  • Process semi-monthly payroll
  • Manage freelancers and/or contractors; resourcing, budgeting, invoicing
  • Group benefits and RRSP program management, communication and administration
  • Monthly and year-end HR metric reporting and administration; headcounts, remittances, federal and provincial requirements, etc.
  • Maintenance of employee files and HRIS
  • On and off boarding
  • Immigration coordination (visa’s, work permits, extentions, permanent residency assistance)
  • Manage and administer the employee training program; budgeting, tracking and forecasting
  • Facilitate internal resourcing for projects
  • Various other ad hoc HR programs; health & safety, exit interviews, monthly all-studio meeting, etc.

Competencies:

  • 3-5 years well-rounded experience in a project based business environment (creative agencies a definite plus)
  • Post-secondary graduate with a degree in business administration, human resources, communications or related field
  • Ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential matter
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility
  • Solid understanding of employment laws and practices, payroll, healthcare and RRSP administration
  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Proven ability to provide strategic support and management to all levels of an organization
