BRUCE MAU DESIGN WINS CORE77 DESIGN AWARD
  • Toronto, July 14, 2011 - Bruce Mau Design (BMD) wins the Graphics / Branding / Identity category of the Core77 Design Awards for Visual Identity Design work for OCAD University.

    This is the inaugural year of the Core77 Design Awards. The category’s jury is chaired by author/writer Steven Heller, Co-Chair of the MFA Designer as Author program at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Fellow jurors include Paula Scher, Partner at Pentagram; Arem Duplessis, Design Director at The New York Times; Bonnie Siegler, Co-Founder of Number 17; and Mark Randall, Principal of Worldstudio.

    "We were just so bowled over by it, we couldn’t stop talking about it and thought it would be a portend of things to come." said Steven Heller ofthe jury's reaction to the design in a live webcast announcement.

    "We're truly thrilled to be recognized by such an esteemed jury for the OCAD University Visual Identity project.  It was an amazing partnership with one of the true global leaders in design education.  We're so grateful to Dr. Sara Diamond, President of OCAD University, as well as the faculty, staff, students and alumni for participating in such an extraordinary process" said Hunter Tura, BMD's President & CEO.

    Recognizing excellence in all areas of design enterprise, the Core77 Design Awards celebrates the richness of the design profession and its practitioners. For its inaugural year, 15 categories of entry were presented, providing designers a unique opportunity to communicate the intent, rigor and passion behind their efforts. From client work to self-initiated projects, entrepreneurial to pro-bono engagements, the Awards embrace a wide diversity of design enterprise: commercial, cultural, social, environmental, or discursive.

    BMD’s design team was lead by Creative Director Laura Stein, and included designers Chris Braden, Mike Dudek and Greg Judelman.
